CISI UK Regulation & Professional Integrity Past Papers: What Exists (2026)
No public past papers exist for CISI UK Regulation & Professional Integrity. Here's the official material that does, plus current, weighted 80-question mocks.
Are there past papers for the CISI UK Regulation & Professional Integrity exam?
No, CISI does not publish past papers for UK Regulation & Professional Integrity, and sat papers are never released. What exists officially is one free sample paper, currently version 18 and 80 questions long, with an answer key that cites the syllabus reference behind each answer, plus the questions in the official workbook, currently Edition 17 (December 2024). The paper is 80 multiple-choice questions in 120 minutes, computer based, 70% to pass, so 56 of 80, no negative marking. Syllabus version 18 also cut the exam from ten elements to six and rebased the numbering, so older notes describe a structure the paper no longer uses.

UK Regulation & Professional Integrity is compulsory in three separate CISI qualifications — the Investment Advice Diploma, the Level 4 Certificate in Investment Management and the Level 6 Diploma in Investment Compliance — so a great many people are revising it at any one time, and most of them start by searching for past papers. CISI does not publish them for this exam and never has. What exists officially is one sample paper and the questions inside the workbook. Almost everything else in circulation was written against the ten-element structure that syllabus version 18 replaced, so it no longer describes the paper you are booked for.
The paper you are preparing for
| Qualification | Compulsory core unit of the Level 4 Investment Advice Diploma, taken with Investment, Risk & Taxation plus one technical unit; the same paper is also compulsory in the Level 4 Certificate in Investment Management and the Level 6 Diploma in Investment Compliance |
| Questions | 80, multiple choice |
| Time | 120 minutes |
| Pass mark | 70%, so 56 of 80, no negative marking |
| Format | Computer based |
Eighty questions in two hours is 90 seconds each, spread across six elements, and three of them decide the paper. Financial Crime & Market Abuse is the largest at 21 questions, Conduct of Business is 20, and Legal Concepts, Integrity & Ethics is 15. That is 56 marks between them, which is exactly the number you need to pass. The other 24 are split between FCA Supervision, Governance & Consumer Duty at 11, the opening element on the UK financial services sector and the regulatory framework at 7, and Complaints, Redress & Data Protection at 6. For the heaviest element, start with the three stages of money laundering.

4 questions written to the current syllabus, in the format of the real paper. Pick an answer and the explanation appears. Nothing to sign up for.
A recently established company is offering its shares to investors for the first time in order to raise capital for a programme of expansion. Where does this offer take place?
Not quite. The answer is A.
New issues of shares or other securities are made on the primary market, and that is where the issuer actually receives capital — for a first-time listing in the UK the London Stock Exchange acts as the primary regulated market. The secondary market is the tempting runner-up, but a trade there moves cash between investors and raises nothing for the company.
The FCA is the prudential supervisor for a wide range of firms across the financial services sector. For which of the following is prudential supervision NOT an FCA responsibility?
Not quite. The answer is C.
Prudential responsibility for deposit-takers, credit institutions, insurers and significant investment firms belongs to the PRA. The FCA is the prudential supervisor for asset managers, investment firms, independent financial advisers and mortgage and insurance brokers, where its aim is to limit harm to consumers, market participants and market stability when a firm is under financial stress or fails in a disorderly way. Firms managing assets tempt candidates who equate large funds under management with PRA scope — but the PRA's remit is set by activity, not by size.
Aside from activities connected with them, which two categories of business does the general application rule in COBS cover?
Not quite. The answer is A.
COBS covers designated investment business, long-term insurance business in relation to life policies, and activities relating to those two. Deposit-taking is the strongest distractor because firms doing both often assume one sourcebook covers everything — but accepting deposits is not within the COBS general application rule. Home purchase plans and credit-related activity are expressly carved out of the financial promotion provisions as well.
What legal form exists only because the Companies Acts allow it, is separate from its shareholders and its directors, and can sue and be sued in its own name?
Not quite. The answer is B.
Companies are legal persons — creatures of statute, distinct from the owners who hold the shares and from the directors who run them, able to incur liabilities in their own right while the shareholders risk only what they paid for their shares. A limited liability partnership also shields its members, but it is an arrangement between members carrying on business together, not an entity owned through shares and operated by a board.

What official material exists
One free sample paper, currently version 18 and a full 80 questions, written to the live standard. Its answer key cites the syllabus reference behind each answer, so it tells you which element a mistake came from rather than simply that you made one. Then the questions in the official workbook, the paid Revision Express tool and the free Prometric demo of the test software. The workbook supplied through CISI's Accredited Training Partner portal is Edition 17, December 2024. Sit the sample paper once, timed, late in your revision. None of the official material is renewable, and spending it in week one costs you the only clean read you get on your own readiness.
Why old regulation material is a poor shortcut
Two things date this material, and the first is invisible unless you know to look for it. Syllabus version 18 restructured the exam from ten elements to six and rebased the numbering, so a set of notes or a mock that sends you to element 7 is describing a paper that no longer exists. That includes anything written against Edition 15 or Edition 17 of the workbook: much of the content is still examinable, the element numbers and their weightings are not, and revising to the old map means spending your hours in proportions the current paper does not use.
The second is UK regulation itself. The Consumer Duty, the FCA's supervisory approach, the market abuse regime and the data protection rules have all moved inside the working life of the PDFs now circulating, and none of those documents carries a version number you can check. A third trap sits on top of both: CISI also runs a paper called UK Financial Regulation, 75 questions in 90 minutes on the Capital Markets Programme, and much of what is filed online under "CISI UK regulation past papers" is that exam, not this one.
The alternative: current, weighted mock papers
Passkey gives UK Regulation & Professional Integrity six full mock papers, each 80 questions in two hours, weighted element by element like the real thing: 21 on Financial Crime & Market Abuse, 20 on Conduct of Business, 15 on Legal Concepts, Integrity & Ethics, down to 6 on Complaints, Redress & Data Protection. Papers 1 to 4 share no questions with each other, and papers 5 and 6 come from a reserved pool practice mode never serves, so two unseen papers are still waiting in the fortnight before your exam. Questions are written from scratch against syllabus version 18 and its six elements, every answer carries a full explanation, and practice mode sorts the bank by your weak elements.

Frequently asked questions
Does CISI publish past papers for UK Regulation & Professional Integrity?
No. One free sample paper exists, currently version 18 and 80 questions long, plus the questions in the official workbook. Previously sat papers are never released and the live bank rotates, so a leaked set would not transfer to your sitting anyway.
What is the format of the CISI UK Regulation & Professional Integrity exam?
80 multiple-choice questions in 120 minutes, computer based, 70% to pass, so 56 correct out of 80, with no negative marking. It is a compulsory core unit of the Level 4 Investment Advice Diploma, taken with Investment, Risk & Taxation plus one technical unit, and the same paper is compulsory in the Level 4 Certificate in Investment Management and the Level 6 Diploma in Investment Compliance.
Which part of the syllabus carries the most marks?
Element 5, Financial Crime & Market Abuse, at 21 of the 80 questions. Element 3, Conduct of Business, is next at 20, and element 4, Legal Concepts, Integrity & Ethics, carries 15. Those three are 56 marks between them, the same number you need to pass, so weakness across all three cannot be made up on the other 24.
Is this the same exam as CISI UK Financial Regulation?
No, and confusing the two is the commonest way candidates end up revising the wrong material. UK Financial Regulation is the Capital Markets Programme regulatory unit, 75 questions in 90 minutes across four elements. UK Regulation & Professional Integrity is the Level 4 Investment Advice Diploma core unit, 80 questions in 120 minutes across six. They overlap on conduct of business and market abuse, but the depth, the weightings and the level differ, so a mock for one will not calibrate you for the other. See UK Financial Regulation past papers if that is the paper you are booked for.
